Frack Free Greater Manchester regrets that a police officer hurt his hand whilst removing campaigners from a lock-on on Barton Moss Lane yesterday. The individuals involved are from outside of Greater Manchester and not known to us. The lock-on apparatus appears to have been constructed to as to make it difficult to remove and thereby delay iGas deliveries but it was constructed in a dangerous manner.
Frack Free Greater Manchester is committed to peaceful protest and supports non-violent direct action by autonomous groups that support our aims. However we do not want to see anyone physically harmed, whether protester, passer-by or police officer. We call on anyone considering taking direct action to consider their own safety and that of others when planning actions.
We wish the officer concerned a speedy recovery.
