What could be the largest ever gathering of people opposed to shale gas extraction in the UK is planned for Manchester city centre on Saturday 12th November 2016.
Campaigners from Lancashire and Yorkshire will converge on the city and be joined by local campaigners from Frack Free Greater Manchester, Manchester Friends of the Earth, the Manchester Greenpeace Network, the Campaign Against Climate Change and other groups, including veterans of the Barton Moss camp.
The rally will start at 11AM in Piccadilly Gardens and then will move off at midday for speeches at Castlefield at about 1PM. There will be national and local campaigners speaking, as well as choirs and music.
Organisers hope the event will be at least as large as the gatherings that took place during the protests against test drilling for shale gas at Barton Moss in Salford, during which up to two thousand people marched through the city (2).
A full press release will be sent out by Frack Free Lancashire next week.
